R. Kelly Accuser Says Dave Chappelle’s “Piss on You” Sketch Left Her Feeling “Terrified” and “Exposed”

Reshona Landfair, the R. Kelly survivor who appeared in the singer’s infamous sex tape, has spoken out about the 2003 Dave Chappelle sketch that mocked the controversy.

Earlier this month, Landfair publicly revealed her identity after previously being referred to as Jane Doe during R. Kelly’s child pornography trial in the 2000s. At the time the tape was recorded — showing her being urinated on by the disgraced R&B star — she was just fourteen years old. Now 41, the former member of the child R&B group 4 the Cause is promoting her debut memoir, Who’s Watching Shorty?, which details her past relationship with Kelly, his acquittal in the 2000s case, and her testimony during his 2022 child pornography and enticement trial.

Landfair recently appeared on The Joy Reid Show, where she reflected on the pain she felt watching the tape turned into comedy during a 2003 episode of Chappelle’s Show. In the skit, Chappelle spoofed R. Kelly with the song “Piss On You,” complete with visual jokes referencing urolagnia.

“I felt terrified. I felt very embarrassed and very confused because something that was so vulnerable for me was humorous and a mockery to the world and it really just exposed me and made me feel humiliated,” Landfair told Reid about how the sketch impacted her.

Reid went on to say she was “quite sure” that Chappelle didn’t mean to “attack” Landfair with the sketch.

Landfair also revealed that when news broke about the tape leaking, she felt “pretty empty inside,” “very ashamed,” and “really scared.”

“For so long this was a huge secret and I had been groomed to never admit this, never make it to be true about us. So I was scared more than anything,” she added.

In her memoir, Landfair wrote that Chappelle’s sketch added “insult to injury,” deepening her trauma, according to WBEZ Chicago. She also alleged that she was introduced to Kelly by her aunt, singer Sparkle, and claimed Sparkle allowed Kelly to groom her. Sparkle has consistently pushed back on those accusations across social media.

“Enough is enough,” Sparkle said in a recent Instagram Reel. “I’ve endured not being believed before, so my niece’s false statements don’t bother me as much as her mindset and willingness to tell the lies.”
