D4vd’s Family Reportedly Challenges Grand Jury Subpoena in Celeste Hernandez Death Investigation

D4vd’s family is reportedly fighting a grand jury summons in California that would require them to testify as material witnesses in the investigation surrounding the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez.

Per court documents obtained by TMZ, D4vd’s mother, Colleen Burke; father, Dawud; and brother, Caleb — who all reside in Texas — say the affidavits used to secure a Texas court order included redacted portions.

They argue that the redactions left them without any clear explanation as to why they are being labeled material witnesses. The family also claims they were never given the “opportunity to challenge the trial court’s determination that they are, in fact, material witnesses.”

TMZ reports that an appeals court has since given the trial judge 10 days to issue a response.

Earlier this month, Neo Langston — a former Twitch streamer and friend of D4vd — testified before a grand jury. Robert Morgenroth, who serves as president of the singer’s touring company and general manager of his record label, has also been questioned.

The Los Angeles Police Department opened an investigation into Hernandez’s death after her remains were discovered inside an impounded Tesla registered under D4vd’s legal name. At the time of the discovery, the artist was wrapping up the North America leg of his Withered World Tour.

In September, Scot M. Williams, commanding officer of the Robbery-Homicide Division for the LAPD, told People that the Tesla had been “parked at the location from which it was towed” for several weeks. Authorities believe Celeste had also been deceased for several weeks before her body was found.

In December, multiple sources told TMZ that D4vd is believed to be connected to Hernandez’s death and is expected to face indictment on murder charges.
