The couple who lit up the internet after getting engaged at Super Bowl LX during Bad Bunny’s halftime show has now confirmed the big moment was completely real.
Victor Dimaren opened up to Fox 13 Tampa Bay about proposing to Emma Eldridge during Benito’s record-breaking performance, which is now the most-watched halftime show ever. He shared that after meeting at a pool party and spending several years together, he knew it was time to take the next step with Eldridge.
“I already had planned a formal engagement this year, but the way the world works, it just all lined up and, yeah, it ended up being amazing,” he said.
Dimaren, who has years of experience as a dancer in the entertainment industry, revealed he originally auditioned for what was described as a mystery role. That role turned out to be an “engagement scene” during Bad Bunny’s halftime set.
After rehearsing for the performance with his unsuspecting girlfriend, the couple had their viral moment when Bad Bunny paused mid-show to hand Dimaren a ring from a jeweler. Right there on the field, he dropped to one knee and proposed to Eldridge.
“It’s live. It’s a one-and-done shot,” Dimaren said about the high-pressure moment. “So I definitely was nervous about that. I was practicing it up until five minutes before we touched the grass. I was handing the ring box to people, and I was like, ‘Hand this to me.’ Let me see if I can get it right.”
Once the show wrapped, the celebrations continued backstage with Bad Bunny himself.
“Benito, he’s such a sweet guy,” Dimaren shared. “He’s very down-to-earth. He’s very hands-on with the project.”
And the proposal wasn’t the only unforgettable highlight from the history-making performance. During the same halftime show, another couple actually tied the knot in a real ceremony. NBC Sports later confirmed the wedding wasn’t scripted, revealing the couple had originally hoped Benito would perform at their wedding. When scheduling conflicts made that impossible, he invited them to exchange vows live during the show instead.
