Zoe Saldaña Commits to $2,500 Monthly Donation for James Van Der Beek’s GoFundMe

Zoe Saldaña has committed to donating $2,500 every month to a GoFundMe launched for the family of James Van Der Beek.

Her name appears directly on the fundraiser page, confirming the recurring contribution — which adds up to roughly $30,000 annually.

The GoFundMe was organized following Van Der Beek’s passing after his battle with colorectal cancer. The campaign initially aimed for $500,000 before the goal was raised to $1.5 million — a target it surpassed in under 24 hours. As of this writing, the total has climbed to $2.3 million.

A number of well-known names have also stepped up to support the fundraiser, including Guy Oseary, Lyn Lear, Martin Blencowe, Busy Phillips, Derek Hough, Kaley Cuoco, and others.

Van Der Beek passed away on Feb. 11. His wife, Kimberly, shared the heartbreaking news in a post on Instagram.

“Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed away peacefully this morning. He met his final days with courage, faith, and grace,” Kimberly wrote. “There is much to share regarding his wishes, love for humanity and the sacredness of time. Those days will come. For now we ask for peaceful privacy as we grieve our loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend.”

Back in 2023, Van Der Beek publicly revealed his colorectal cancer diagnosis in a statement to People. “I have colorectal cancer. I’ve been privately dealing with this diagnosis and have been taking steps to resolve it, with the support of my incredible family,” he said at the time. “There’s reason for optimism, and I’m feeling good.”

He is survived by his wife and their six children.
