Beyoncé Shares Puerto Rico Tribute in New Super Bowl Suite Instagram Photos

Beyoncé showed support for Bad Bunny’s homeland of Puerto Rico after watching his 2026 Super Bowl halftime performance.

While she wasn’t photographed inside Levi’s Stadium during the Feb. 8 game, the usually private Cowboy Carter star later confirmed she was there by posting photos from a luxury suite on Instagram on Feb. 15.

Along with footage of the now-viral tree performers crossing the field and a snapshot beside husband Jay-Z, Beyoncé also shared another carousel that subtly — yet unmistakably — paid tribute to Puerto Rico.

In the snaps, Beyoncé is pictured enjoying a hamburger at a gold-plated table setting. Placed next to her plate were two small flags on stands — one American and one Puerto Rican. Notably, the Puerto Rican flag showcased its original light blue shade instead of the darker navy version more commonly seen today.

She later posted another photo that zoomed in directly on the two flags, making sure the Puerto Rican flag was clearly front and center.

The move ties back to Bad Bunny’s halftime show and the message behind his Album of the Year-winning project, Debí Tirar Más Fotos.

As Teen Vogue’s Sara Delgado pointed out, Bad Bunny wrapped the album with the openly political track “La Mudanza,” a deeply personal reflection on his family roots and his Boricua pride. In the opening verse, he references the historic crackdown on Puerto Rican nationalism, rapping, “They killed people here for waving the flag, that’s why I bring it anywhere I want now.”

The line alludes to Law 53 of 1948, also known as the Gag Law (“La Ley de La Mordaza”), which made it illegal to display the Puerto Rican flag until it was declared unconstitutional in 1957.

Delgado also highlighted that the original Puerto Rican flag carried a sky blue tone, which was later changed to navy by the Government of Puerto Rico. Today, the lighter blue version is often embraced by those who advocate for the island’s independence.

The track ends with a bold statement of identity: “Nobody can take me out of here, l’m not going anywhere. Tell them this is my house, where my grandpa was born. I am from P fuckin’ R.”

During his halftime performance, Bad Bunny waved a Puerto Rican flag in that original light blue shade.

Beyoncé has shown support for Puerto Rico long before this moment. Back in 2017, she joined J Balvin and Willy William on a remix of their smash hit “Mi Gente.”

Proceeds from the remix were directed toward hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico, Mexico, and other Caribbean islands following Hurricane Maria, Hurricane Irma, and a powerful earthquake in Mexico.
