Lil Yachty made it clear he didn’t want any involvement in the Drake and Kendrick Lamar feud — even if it meant shelving a major podcast episode.
During the Wednesday (February 25) episode of The Bootleg Kev Podcast, Yachty sat down with the Concrete Boys and revealed that Drake had actually recorded the second episode of his A Safe Place podcast. However, the episode was never released. Its drop would’ve coincided with the peak of Drake’s 2024 clash with Kendrick Lamar — drama the “Poland” rapper had no interest in being tied to.
Just past the 19-minute mark, Yachty explained that although he had “great guests” on the show, the Drake sit-down stayed in the vault. “[It was recorded] right before the Kendrick thing. It was good, too, it was really funny,” he shared.
“It was such a funny interview. We never put it out,” Yachty repeated.
Yachty — who holds co-writing credits on Drake projects like Her Loss and For All the Dogs — was even mentioned on Kendrick Lamar’s “Euphoria,” where the 27-time Grammy winner rapped: “Yachty can’t give you no swag neither, I don’t give a fuck ’bout who you hang with.”
Still, Yachty said he didn’t feel caught in the middle. “I don’t think it put me in a weird place. I was with Drake, for sure. So, it wasn’t like a limbo,” he explained. “I think it’s a sticky situation. I realized just it’s beyond me and I tried to stay out of it for real.”
He also pointed out that Drake and Kendrick Lamar are “grown men,” adding that the $ome $exy $ongs 4 U artist never came to him for “advice.” “I don’t know why people just think I was the person putting influence him to do all these things,” Yachty said.
For the most part, Yachty has kept quiet about The Boy’s feud with Kendrick, previously sharing that he felt “disconnected” from the drama since he was overseas in Europe when it all unfolded.
