Queen Latifah is the latest celebrity to be targeted by a viral death hoax, but according to the star herself, she’s very much alive and doing just fine.
Celebrity death rumors aren’t anything new, and Queen Latifah recently found herself at the center of one circulating online. Earlier this week, false claims about the rapper’s death began spreading across the internet, prompting her to set the record straight. She assured fans that she’s alive and well, while also reminding people not to believe everything they see online.
“Good morning, it’s me, Latifah,” she said in a video posted on Instagram. “I’m 100% A-OK. Can’t believe what you read on the internet or see. Can’t believe nothing now, right? I’m good. Peace.”
Fans were quick to express relief that the icon is doing well and seemed to be in high spirits despite the bizarre rumors. “Now who tf tried to kill the Queen??? Jail. Immediately,” one Instagram user commented. “Love you babygirl! Ain’t nobody believing that nonsense,” another wrote. Someone else simply added, “We love you.”
Queen Latifah isn’t the only artist to be hit with death rumors in recent months. Chief Keef also became the subject of a similar hoax back in January. One of the viral posts falsely claimed: “Popular Rapper ‘Chief Keef’ has reportedly been shot 6x in the face after returning to O’block after 15 years to film a music video, he is currently on life support. Pray for Chief Keef.”
The rumor was believed to have started from the Twitter/X account @TommyGoBraazy, which has gained attention for spreading misinformation about rappers and other celebrities. Chief Keef’s manager, Idris Dykes, later cleared things up while speaking with Fox 32 Chicago, revealing that the rapper wasn’t even in the city at the time.
“No, this is false,” he said. “Keef has not been to Chicago since he did Summer Smash two years ago.”
Similar death hoaxes have also circulated online about Eminem, Jackie Chan, Tom Cruise, and several other celebrities.
