Doechii is standing firm on her opinion.
The Florida artist stirred up a lively online debate after sharing her blunt thoughts about cats on Threads—and she’s not walking it back. Doechii recently took to social media to admit she’s not particularly fond of the furry pets, saying cats just aren’t naturally friendly creatures. Her comment quickly sparked a flood of reactions from pet owners and fans across the internet, many of whom jumped in to defend their beloved cats.
Doechii, however, didn’t seem shocked by the pushback.
In a post that soon spread across X and other platforms, the rapper explained that her issue comes from how much effort she feels it takes for cats to warm up to people compared to other animals. To her, the relationship between cats and humans can sometimes feel unnatural.
“People act like it’s a crime to dislike cats when they genuinely aren’t friendly animals,” she wrote online. “They don’t wanna be domestic just leave ’em alone! Like it’s not organic.”
She also joked that many cat owners seem to accept scratches and aggressive behavior from their pets as normal, something she finds puzzling.
“It’s rare that cats are immediately lovey without years of pain and work put in,” Doechii added. “Y’all be scratched and beat up by your own animals.”

The remarks quickly triggered a wave of reactions from cat lovers, many of whom argued that cats simply express affection differently from dogs and that building trust with them takes time and patience. Others, however, said they could understand the rapper’s perspective, particularly when it comes to cats being more independent by nature.
“I could care less abt Doechii’s opinion on cats specifically,” one person wrote. “But seeing people generalize cats as ‘unfriendly animals’ is absolutely hilarious to me. I don’t think I’ve Eeer been around a mean cat, and I’ve been around different ones for my entire life. Scared, maybe.”
“Man idgaf about doechii disliking cats,” another user added. “Long as she’s not harming them it’s no need to have a discourse about it. There’s other things happening in the world that we should be mad about!!!”
While the discussion may seem playful, it highlights how quickly ordinary opinions can spiral into major online debates—especially when the topic involves animals people are passionate about.
For now, Doechii doesn’t appear bothered by the criticism. If anything, the viral moment shows that even something as simple as a pet preference can spark a full-blown social media showdown.
