Drake’s father, Dennis Graham, recently shut down an Instagram user who made an unfortunate comment—one that could have easily been avoided with a quick Google search.
Earlier this month, a clip from a 2018 interview between Dennis and Van Lathan resurfaced on social media. In the conversation, Dennis—who is also a musician—looked back on the moment he realized his son was “really special.”
The resurfaced interview led to an Instagram post that quickly sparked reactions. One viewer jumped into the comments, claiming it was “kinda weird [Dennis] doesn’t address his own kid as Aubrey.”
Drake’s dad didn’t waste time setting the record straight, pointing out a simple fact that’s easy to verify: the Iceman artist’s full name is Aubrey Drake Graham.
“I named my son Drake so that’s why I call him Drake, and I have no idea how you came to think that it’s weird me calling him his name that I gave him,” Dennis wrote in his reply, seen below. “Ask questions before you make a comment on something you know nothing about.”

Dennis Graham stepping in to defend his son comes as fans continue to wait for official details about when Iceman—Drake’s first solo album since 2023’s For All the Dogs—will finally arrive. The project was initially expected to drop in 2025, but many now believe it’s been pushed to 2026. As of now, though, no official release date has been revealed.
In the meantime, Drake has kept the anticipation alive with several teasers over the past few months, including another cryptic Instagram post from the five-time Grammy winner just last week.
