This year celebrates a major milestone for Jay-Z, marking 30 years of “Reasonable Doubt” and 25 years of “The Blueprint.”
To honor the anniversaries of these iconic albums, Jay-Z is set to take over Yankee Stadium with back-to-back concerts—”Reasonable Doubt” on July 10 and “The Blueprint” on July 11. The announcement dropped on Tuesday, just as speculation continues to build around a possible new album from the rap legend.
When Roc Nation dropped the announcement on X (formerly Twitter), fans couldn’t hide their excitement in the replies. “Thank you, Baby Jesus!!! I did not want to take my old ass to a festival. I am staying tuned!” one user wrote. Another chimed in: “Wait, these two separate concerts for two separate albums. He playing big games!”
Roc Nation wrapped up the post by urging fans to “stay tuned” for more updates, with ticket sale details still under wraps.
It’s still uncertain whether Jay-Z is truly working on a new album, but the speculation has been picking up again lately. Back in September, Cash Cobain mentioned during Billboard Unfiltered Live that he’d heard the rap icon was back in the studio. “I heard Jay-Z about to drop some s—t. That’s what I heard,” he said at the time. “That’s about to shake the world.” After the comment made rounds online, he later jumped on X to clear things up, saying he had spoken directly with Jay and the rumors weren’t accurate. “When I was on the phone with Hov he said that he is absolutely not dropping an album,” Cash wrote.
The chatter picked up again on Tuesday when Roots Picnic revealed Jay-Z as one of the headliners for this year’s festival. For now, though, it looks like his return to the stage is simply to celebrate Reasonable Doubt and The Blueprint.
Jay-Z’s last project, 4:44, dropped in 2017 and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, moving 262,000 album units in its first week.
