Lana Del Rey Seemingly Pushes Back at Being Paired With Ethel Cain at Drag Brunch: “She’s Abusive”

Lana Del Rey seemingly called out an LGBTQ+ nightclub after it promoted an event that framed her as being in competition with Ethel Cain.

Earlier this week, Atlanta’s LORE nightclub posted on Instagram to promote its “Ethel vs Lana Drag Brunch.” The event was billed as “ATL’s most brooding drag performers take on the hits and deep cuts from your favorite 2 all-American sad girls!”

In a comment that was later deleted, the Born to Die singer seemingly responded, writing, “Sadly, none of this is funny. She’s abusive and that’s all there is to it.”

Multiple users, along with the nightclub itself, appeared to confirm that the comment was genuine.

On Sunday (March 22), LORE shared a screenshot of an alleged DM from Del Rey that read, “Fuck you.”

The club captioned the post, writing, “Lana, you will always be a part of our LORE. [heart hands emoji] See you next Sunday! #blocked.”

According to Teen Vogue, the tension between the two artists dates back to when Del Rey shared a snippet of an unreleased song titled “Track 13,” which included the line, “Ethel Cain hated my Instagram post / Think it’s cute reenacting my Chicago pose.”

Fans speculated the lyric was referencing rumored friction tied to posts comparing similar photos of both artists with Jack Donoghue from the band Salem.

Cain later seemed to react on Instagram, posting, “Update: Lana Del Rey has blocked Ethel Cain on Instagram.”

Nicki Minaj also brought more attention to the track, praising Del Rey’s song and saying she planned to dive into her full catalog.
