Usher is setting the record straight on rumors about a supposed clash with Justin Bieber following the Oscars—at least based on what Da Brat is saying.
Speaking on a recent episode of The Rickey Smiley Morning Show, Da Brat revealed that she had a conversation with Usher about the alleged situation. Reports last week suggested things got physical between Usher and Bieber, while sources close to Bieber insisted there was “no physical contact,” though they described the exchange as “intense.”
“I spoke to Usher, and he said, ‘This is an exaggeration of the conversation,’” Da Brat shared. “He’s been nothing but supportive of plenty of issues that Justin Bieber has had throughout the years.”
“Justin is on his own journey, dealing with his own reality that he’s created. Usher wishes him nothing but the best, and they have no hostility towards each other,” she added.
Da Brat went on to say that Bieber and Usher “definitely love each other,” stressing that their conversation had been taken “out of context.” She did, however, confirm that the two “had a conversation.”
She added, “Nobody heard the conversation but the two of them, and people are just taking it and twisting it and turning it around. But I’m letting you know that everything is okay between them, and there’s no hostility.”
A few days after the Oscars, reports began circulating that Usher and Bieber were involved in a “heated exchange” at Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s Oscars after-party. TMZ also reported that Bieber has been distancing himself from people in his past, including Usher, with a source claiming the younger artist has “always been rude to Usher.”
Usher famously mentored Justin Bieber during the early stages of his career, but the pair haven’t been seen together much in recent years. TMZ notes that their last known appearance in the same place was back in 2022 at Coeur d’Alene Lake in Idaho.
At the time of writing, Bieber has yet to publicly address the rumors surrounding the alleged incident with Usher.
