Kylie Jenner recently opened up about an emotional moment after her daughter with Travis Scott, Stormi Webster, asked why their entire family is famous. The question sparked a reflective moment where past memories met the present.
Speaking on the debut episode of Kid Cudi’s Big Bro podcast, Jenner was asked whether her kids have started realizing they’re growing up in the spotlight. While Aire, her youngest with Travis Scott, hasn’t reached that point yet, Stormi—possibly influenced by conversations at school, according to Jenner—has begun asking deeper questions.
“I think it’s, like, super maybe normal to them,” Jenner told Cudi. “It’s pretty normal, I think. You know, they see people come up to me and ask me for photos. My son, not so much. My daughter, for sure now. … The other day, she said ‘Why are we famous? Why is our whole family famous? Because that’s crazy.’ I’m like, actually, let me try to answer this for you.”
Jenner believes Stormi may be picking up on the attention her father gets, especially from kids at school who are fans of Travis Scott.
“I think it’s becoming more present in her mind, but she said ‘Why are we famous?’” Jenner continued. “I sat her down. I was like, ‘We started a television show when I was a year older than you and that’s why we’re all in this together, because we were all on the show together.’ She was like, ‘Can I watch it?’ and I’m like, ‘Sure.’ So we turned on the first episode.”
Although some parts of the show felt “inappropriate,” Jenner said the experience left her overwhelmed with emotion.
“I was so emotional after,” she shared. “I don’t know what hit me but I was weeping in my bed. I don’t know why that happened to me. Maybe it’s my daughter being the same age as I was and just seeing my family, feeling so grateful for all that we’ve built but also mourning that closeness when we were all kind of living under the same roof.”
