Greg Mathis’ Divorce Case Dropped After Wife Withdraws Filing

Greg Mathis and his wife, Linda Mathis, have officially decided to move past their divorce.

According to newly filed court documents obtained by TMZ, Linda asked for the case to be dismissed without prejudice earlier this week, with the court finalizing the request the following day. The decision effectively ends a split that had briefly put their nearly 40-year marriage at risk.

Linda Mathis initially filed for divorce in August 2024, just a month after separating from Greg Mathis. At the time, court documents pointed to irreconcilable differences after 39 years of marriage.

However, by fall 2024, the couple had already started finding their way back to each other. In November 2024, they confirmed publicly that they had reconciled and were actively working through their issues.

Judge Mathis has long built his public image around perseverance, family, and second chances. Before becoming a household name on TV, he overcame a difficult upbringing in Detroit, including juvenile arrests and time in jail, before turning his life around with guidance from mentors like Jesse Jackson.

He went on to become the youngest judge ever elected to Michigan’s 36th District Court and later hosted the Emmy-winning courtroom show Judge Mathis for 24 seasons.

The couple opened up about their reconciliation during an appearance on The Tamron Hall Show late last year, where Mathis described the separation as one of the hardest moments of his life.

“I’d do anything to get my mother back,” he said. “So I did anything to get my wife back.”

Linda shared that they both put in the effort to rebuild their relationship, saying they “did a lot of work” and “learned each other again.”

Since then, they’ve continued to show up together publicly throughout 2025. Married since 1985, the couple shares four children.
