Owen Wilson Admits He Was Scared Travis Scott Would Make Him Dance at Rolling Loud Set

Owen Wilson says his time onstage with Travis Scott at Rolling Loud was definitely “unusual” — and he was lowkey nervous the whole time.

The Stick actor made a surprise appearance during Scott’s “FE!N” set at Rolling Loud Miami last December, a moment that later tied into the announcement of Wilson’s upcoming comedy film set at the festival, dropping in 2026.

While chatting on The Zane Lowe Show on Tuesday, July 8, Wilson admitted the performance was actually part of the movie — and almost didn’t happen. He joked about fans being confused by the unexpected team-up with Scott, but explained he was “in character” the whole time.

“It was nice when I met him because then we did a scene and he’s from Houston and he said that he loves [director] Wes Anderson,” Wilson shared.

Wilson admitted it “helped” having his sons, Ford (14) and Finn (11), at Rolling Loud, because their presence meant there was no backing out.

“It was scary going up there,” he said, recalling a quick chat with Travis Scott’s hype man right before stepping onstage. “I just wanted to make sure that I wasn’t expected to dance, ‘cause I’m not a dancer.”

With a little encouragement, Wilson made it out there and described the moment as an “out-of-body experience” fueled by pure adrenaline.

“You can see how a lot of musicians have a hard time just shutting it down and going to bed when the show ends,” he said.

After the performance, Wilson stuck around and soaked up the festival vibes — even catching a set from Sexyy Red.
