Jaleel White is weighing in on what he sees as tension between Drake and LeBron James, pointing to the rapper’s latest lyric as a clue.
On the Everybody Lurks podcast, White broke down a line from Drake’s new track “What Did I Miss?” that many fans believe was aimed at LeBron. The lyric — “I saw bro went to Pop Out with them, but been dick-riding gang since ‘Headlines’” — appears to call out the NBA star for showing up to Kendrick Lamar’s The Pop Out concert in L.A., despite his longtime friendship with Drake.
White suggested LeBron might be the kind of celebrity who gravitates toward whatever’s trending, even if it comes at a friend’s expense.
“There are some celebrities who are drawn to what’s hot […] and then there’s another celebrity that is drawn to what serves them on a human level,” he said. “I think [LeBron] was drawn to what was extremely hot at the time.”
He added, “There’s certain people, I don’t care how hot their event is — if I don’t jive with what they are, I ain’t going in there.”
Tension between Drake and LeBron James has been quietly brewing since early 2024, especially after Drake dropped “Fighting Irish Freestyle” — a track many saw as a subtle dig at LeBron’s high school basketball days at St. Vincent–St. Mary. While LeBron hasn’t publicly addressed the rumored fallout, he was seen vibing to one of Kendrick Lamar’s tracks at a party, rapping along on camera.
Interestingly, Jaleel White also has a loose tie to the Drake vs. Kendrick feud. When the rap battle was at its peak — with both artists firing off diss tracks back-to-back — Drake released “Family Matters,” a track whose title nods to the classic sitcom that made White famous as Steve Urkel.
