Rick Ross and DC Young Fly have been trading shots online after DC spoke out about the rapper’s sudden exit during an 85 South Show interview.
The drama resurfaced over the weekend when Ross addressed DC in an Instagram Story after the comedian brought up Ross’s early departure during an appearance on the Rory & Mal podcast. DC claimed it was hard not to take Ross’s exit personally, especially since the rapper went on another show right after—one that wouldn’t hesitate to ask questions that could potentially stir controversy, unlike 85 South, which would’ve handled him with care.
In a series of Instagram Stories filmed poolside, Ross reminded fans that he pulled up to the show with DC, Chico Bean, and Karlous Miller without charging a dime.
“I didn’t ask about your analytics or none of that. I came to show love. Don’t act like I just walked out on y’all,” Ross said. “I even showed up early. Rozay had other moves to make.” He then joked about wasting time dressing up in a Gucci jacket and told the crew to have some lemon pepper wings ready next time.
DC didn’t let Ross’s comments slide. He clapped back, setting the record straight that Ross wasn’t the only guest to appear for free—and that the show’s success didn’t depend on him.
“Ross, you ain’t the only n***a,” DC said. “Boosie did it for free. T.I. did it for free. Busta Rhymes did it for free. Snoop Dogg did it for free. Everybody who sat on that couch came through for free.”
He added, “We got our own analytics. We were the biggest before you came and still the biggest after. You’re always welcome back—on the biggest podcast in the world.”
As for that Gucci jacket Ross mentioned? DC had jokes: “Let me buy that Gucci jacket off you then. So I can tell my son I bought it from a n***a who left. He said it was a waste, right? Since we didn’t pay you, I’ll pay for the jacket.”
DC also pointed out that there were Wingstop wings in the studio specifically for Ross, but instead of enjoying them, the rapper seemed more focused on making his exit than checking if his needs were actually met.
“We understand when folks got places to be, bro. Just let us know upfront—‘Hey, little homies, I got an hour,’” DC said. “We’ll make it happen in 45 minutes so you can get to your next spot. But don’t show up acting like you’re doing us a favor, then dip without saying anything. Just say something so we know what’s up, gang. We ain’t tripping—just come back.”
He ended with, “So Ross, get out the pool and give me a call so we can sort it out.”
During his original appearance, Ross had only gotten halfway through the interview when he claimed he needed to use the bathroom—only to bounce from the set completely. DC, Chico, and Karlous were left confused until someone from Ross’s team let them know he left to catch a flight. Later, Ross told The Breakfast Club his sudden departure wasn’t personal—he was just in a different headspace.
