From Jaws to unexpected headlines, sharks have always captured the public’s imagination.
Now, shark enthusiasts can dive into a full week dedicated to the ocean’s most iconic predator.
Shark Week 2025 kicks off on the Discovery Channel starting July 20, with the full programming lineup now live on the network’s website.
One of the standout events? A show titled Dancing With the Sharks.
“Summer’s most-anticipated television programming event, Discovery Channel’s Shark Week, returns for its historic 37th year on Sunday, July 20 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. The network previously announced the upcoming Shark Week special Dancing with Sharks and today released the first official promo clip for the 2025 celebration,” the website states. So, what exactly is Dancing With the Sharks?
According to Discovery Channel, the new Shark Week 2025 special is “hosted by Emmy Award-winning television personality Tom Bergeron” and brings viewers an unprecedented underwater dance showdown between expert divers and their shark partners.
Blending elegance, precision, and pure adrenaline, five divers—each trained by a top-tier underwater choreographer—will take the plunge and compete in breathtaking underwater routines. Signature moves like the Hammerhead Hoedown and Tiger Trot will push the limits as each diver tries to outperform the rest and become the first-ever Dancing With Sharks champion.
Shark Week 2025 doesn’t stop there—it also features a lineup of podcasts, including one that dives into the surprising intelligence of sharks. “We shouldn’t just think of them as dumb fish with rows of razor-sharp teeth,” Discovery notes.
You can catch all the action on Discovery Channel starting July 20 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, and stream it on HBO Max and Discovery+. The shark-packed programming continues through July 26.
