Diana Ross lit up the Hollywood Bowl with a powerhouse three-hour concert packed with her biggest hits, but one of the night’s most touching moments came when she brought several of her children onstage—including daughter Tracee Ellis Ross—for a heartfelt duet.
The legendary singer, 81, welcomed the Black-ish star to join her for a rendition of her 1981 chart-topping ballad “Endless Love,” originally performed with Lionel Richie. The song spent nine weeks at No. 1 back in the day, and the crowd erupted with applause as the mother-daughter duo sang together.
Tracee admitted to the audience that singing alongside her iconic mom still makes her nervous. “I get next to her and I’m five years old. I’m going to take a deep breath,” she said. “My mom said I have to get over my fear of singing with her on stage.” But once she started singing, the audience couldn’t tell she was jittery. Diana beamed at her daughter, saying, “That was good, Tracee.”
Several of Ross’s other children also shared the stage, including Rhonda Ross (her daughter with Berry Gordy), Chudney Ross, Ross Naess, and Evan Ross, who was joined by wife Ashlee Simpson and their kids Jagger and Ziggy. Evan jokingly admitted he was “very mad” that Tracee got the coveted duet instead of him.
The evening’s setlist was a career-spanning showcase, featuring hits from the 1960s through the ’80s and beyond, including “Baby Love,” “You Keep Me Hangin’ On,” “You Can’t Hurry Love,” “Come See About Me,” “Stop! In the Name of Love,” “Upside Down,” and selections from her film soundtracks and solo albums.
