Jason Momoa Shows Off Major Transformation for ‘Dune: Part 3’

Production on Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part 3 is officially underway, and Jason Momoa just revealed a shocking new look for his return as Duncan Idaho.

The actor took to Instagram to share a video of himself shaving his face, marking the first time he’s been clean-shaven in six years.

“Goddamnit, I hate it!” Momoa exclaimed as he looked at his freshly shaven face.

The video also doubled as a promotional moment for his bottled water brand, Mananalu, whose anniversary lines up with the date he first began filming the original Dune movie.

“It’s been about six years, maybe a little bit more since I did Dune,” Jason Momoa said. “What was really special about that is that is when I started launching Mananalu. At that time, I think we were one of the first ones to ever release the aluminum bottle. And now, six years later, you know, airports are banning some of these plastics.”

Momoa noted how much the bottled water industry has shifted, and his mission to make an environmental impact remains strong. In the same video, he announced a partnership with Boomerang Water to create “a closed-loop system.”

“The goal is just to eliminate waste and cut down on all the emissions,” he explained. “So imagine when you’re in Hawaii, you go to all those hotels — my goal is to stop seeing all of these plastics.”

Momoa first appeared in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune but was absent in the second installment. He now rejoins returning stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, and Florence Pugh for Dune: Part 3, along with a new cast member — his son, Nakoa-Wolf Momoa.

Earlier this month, Momoa told Extra that his 16-year-old son landed the role entirely on his own.

“You want your children to be better than you, and I really, actually believe he is,” Momoa shared. “I couldn’t do what he’s doing at his age. There’s no way I could sit in a room with Denis Villeneuve and hold my own. I was on Baywatch at 19. He’s 16 and holding s**t down with Denis Villeneuve.”

Dune: Part 3 is set to hit theaters on December 25, 2026.
