Doja Cat Mends Fences With Fan She Once Accused of “Manhandling” Her

Doja Cat is making peace with the fan she once accused of “manhandling” her.

Nearly two months after their tense first encounter, the rapper reunited with influencer Pablo Tamayo at the Outside Lands music festival in Oakland, California — this time as her personally invited VIP guest.

In TikTok clips shared by Tamayo, he documented his trip from Los Angeles to San Francisco, culminating in being escorted to the stage during Doja’s headlining set.

“Doja Cat invited me to @Outside Lands to squash the beef omg my first time flying first class LOL,” he captioned the post.

In another TikTok, Tamayo asks Doja, “How do I smell?” to which she responds, “You smell amazing.”

“I now know your name is Ami. I should’ve known,” he added, referencing her real name, Amala Dlamini.

“That’s fine, and you did not need to know,” Doja replied.

The lighthearted exchange marked a total turnaround from their first meeting back in June, when Tamayo hugged the Scarlet rapper, kissed her on the cheek, and even gave her the shirt off his back — all while admitting he didn’t know her name.

Doja later called him out in now-deleted X posts, writing, “bottom line is i’ll smile at you but it doesn’t mean I fuck w you and don’t touch me and man handle me when you don’t even fuckin know me. iykyk. i honestly think I need to stand up for myself in the moment sometimes. and he didn’t even know my fuckin name to be touching me and kissing me on my face like that is crazy.”

She added in another post, “I threw that musty ass shirt away btw.”

After the incident went viral, Tamayo responded in a TikTok saying Doja’s post “hurts” and clarifying that while he “never claimed the biggest fan,” he thought her work was “amazing.” He recalled Doja pointing out his shirt at an event and liking it, which led him to invite her to be the face of his brand’s Pride collection.

“I said, ‘Oh, I released this t-shirt, I’d love to give you one,’” he explained. “She said, ‘I want one right now,’ and I said, ‘Oh, I can give this one to you.’”

Tamayo said he took “full accountability” if he had been “too nice” during their first meeting, adding, “I’m gay, I would never want to make her feel uncomfortable. She’s so iconic!”

During their backstage reunion, Tamayo asked Doja if she really threw the shirt away. She replied, “I don’t know,” before walking off.

Meanwhile, Doja has confirmed her upcoming album Vie is finished, though she has yet to reveal a release date.
