Zoe Kravitz says her pet snake felt so at home in Taylor Swift’s place, he almost decided to move in for good.
During her Aug. 12 visit to Late Night with Seth Meyers, Kravitz recounted the funny incident, which happened earlier this year while wildfires swept through Los Angeles.
“We ended up having to stay there for about two weeks,” the actress shared, explaining that she was there with her mom, Lisa Bonet, and their snake, Orpheus. Kravitz described Swift’s home as a charming ‘30s-era gem — the kind of place “you want to preserve and take care of.”
Things took a turn when Bonet told her that Orpheus had slipped away after she set him down “for a second” while tidying up.
The runaway reptile was eventually found tucked into a hole in the wall next to a banquette in one of the bathrooms. Kravitz walked in to see her mom holding onto Orpheus’ tail, but getting him out proved to be a bit of a challenge.
“I was like, ‘Either we tear apart her bathroom or I have to tell her there’s a snake loose in her house,’” Kravitz said.
After phoning Swift’s house manager, who suggested they try moving the banquette, Kravitz and her mom ended up doing some impromptu demolition to rescue Orpheus — determined not to let him take up permanent residence in Swift’s walls.
“We’re ripping up tile, scratching the walls,” Kravitz recalled. “I told her house manager, ‘I’ll cover all the repairs. Just please don’t mention anything until it’s all fixed.’”
But, as Kravitz quickly learned, nothing gets past Taylor Swift. “I called her and said, ‘Hey, I need to talk to you about something,’” she said. “And she goes, ‘Is it about how you almost lost a snake in my house and wrecked my bathroom?’”
Between runaway snakes and her high-profile romance with Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift has plenty of fresh songwriting inspiration. On Aug. 12, she revealed her next album, The Life of a Showgirl.
