Noah ‘King Bob’ Urban Gets 10-Year Prison Sentence for Crypto Scam

Noah Urban, better known as “King Bob,” has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft tied to a massive cryptocurrency scam worth at least $800,000.

Along with the prison term, Urban was ordered to serve three years of supervised release and pay $13 million in restitution to 59 victims, according to News4JAX.

Between August 2022 and March 2023, Urban pulled off a scheme using “SIM swapping,” a tactic where he hijacked victims’ phone numbers and transferred them to devices under his control. From there, he and his associates reset passwords on crypto accounts and used text confirmations to lock out the rightful owners.

Authorities believe Urban is linked to the hacking collective Scattered Spider, which has also been tied to leaked unreleased tracks from artists like Playboi Carti, Lil Uzi Vert, and Ariana Grande. However, those music leaks weren’t part of this case and no related charges were filed.

In April, Urban accepted a plea deal covering charges in both Florida and California. In Florida, he admitted guilt to conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud, and aggravated identity theft, while in California, he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
