Memphis Bleek believes Jay-Z and Dame Dash’s relationship is beyond repair.
During his appearance on Drink Champs, DJ EFN asked if he thought the two would ever speak again. Bleek didn’t hesitate: “No.”
“I feel like a line was crossed, man,” he explained. “N***as crossed a line that’s no return, bro. Them Art of Dialogue interviews—I don’t know how much nas get paid for that shit or whatever, but it’s like when you speak on personal issues, a man’s kids, a man’s integrity.”
“N***as going through cases and shit, and you speaking on that…” Bleek said. “It’s no return from that, bro. That’s the button.”
He continued, “How do you even talk to a n***a about a na who talked about him like that? I don’t even know how to bring that conversation up to a man that’s been ridiculed and dragged through the media by a n***a that you called your bro, that would question your integrity. How do you even bring that up?”
Jay-Z and Dame Dash co-founded Roc-A-Fella Records in 1996, changing the face of hip-hop. Along with Kareem “Biggs” Burke, they built a powerhouse label that helped launch the careers of Kanye West, Beanie Sigel, Bleek, the Diplomats, and others.
But by 2004, things fell apart. Roc-A-Fella was sold to Def Jam, and Jay-Z was named president of the label. Dame was cut out of the deal and felt betrayed, sparking a rift that has never healed. Since then, the two have clashed in court over rights to the Roc-A-Fella legacy.
Most recently, Dame was ordered to sell his remaining stake in the company to clear an $823,000 debt.
As for the Art of Dialogue interviews Memphis Bleek referenced, Dame has appeared on the platform several times this year, touching on his debt, his history with Roc-A-Fella, Jay’s relationship with Diddy, and more.
