Nicki Minaj and Sabrina Carpenter might have something cooking together.
On Aug. 29, Minaj shared “Don’t Worry I’ll Make You My Worry” from Carpenter’s new album Man’s Best Friend on her Instagram Story, appearing to show love to an artist who’s also been vocal about supporting her.
Vogue’s Entertainment Director, Sergio Kletnoy, then reposted Minaj’s Story and playfully wrote, “My girls… [Nicki Minaj and Sabrina Carpenter], collab?”
Carpenter’s reply had both fan bases buzzing. She wrote “Love affair” with a string of heart emojis, while Minaj followed up with, “Don’t worry, [Sergio],” adding a salute emoji.
The idea of a collab feels natural given how supportive the two have been of each other lately. Back in August, Carpenter tweeted “This one’s for Nicki,” referencing Minaj’s 2018 feud with Travis Scott after he used multiple album bundles to snag the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200.
Minaj noticed the shoutout and showed love in return. “Shout out Sabrina Carpenter, shout out all the Sabrina Carpenter fans,” she said during an Instagram Live.
Earlier this year, Minaj even listed Carpenter among her favorite newer artists in an interview with Vogue Italia. “A superstar is a superstar, and if you are one, you’ll find a way to shine — with or without social media,” she said. “I didn’t know she’d been around that long when I started listening to her. A breath of fresh air.”
Meanwhile, Carpenter also addressed the controversy over her Man’s Best Friend album cover. Speaking with Gayle King on CBS Mornings, she said her family and friends had no issues with it.
“Y’all need to get out more, I think,” Carpenter joked. “I was actually shocked because between me, my friends, family, and the people I always share my music and art with first, it just wasn’t even a conversation. It was just like, it’s perfect for what the album is [and] what it represents.”
