Charlamagne Tha God has admitted to cheating on his wife of 27 years — but says it’s been almost a decade since it last happened.
The 47-year-old radio host opened up during an interview with DJ Vlad, where the two discussed honesty and transparency in relationships. Charlamagne stressed that truth is the core of a strong foundation.
“Faithful Black men don’t cheat,” he said at around the one-hour, 45-minute mark of the conversation. “October of 2016 was the last time I ever played around.”
Charlamagne has been married to Jessica Gadsden, 43, since 2014. The couple, who first met in high school, now share four daughters together.
“If you lay down every night with a woman and you say this is your best friend, I’m the type of person where I need all of my energy claimed,” Charlamagne explained.
“I’m willing to deal with whatever comes from being 100%, completely honest—especially if I know which direction I’m taking my life. I want things to be clean, I want things to be pure, I want my energy right.”
On the professional side, Charlamagne’s Black Privilege Publishing is gearing up to release 2 Chainz’s debut book, The Voice in Your Head Is God, next March.
The rapper announced the project on Instagram, calling it his “most personal and introspective work to date.”
“I talk about how the voice in my head I hear every day, all day, led me to the point where I’m right now, and that’s in front of you guys. It is motivational, it’s powerful, and it’s raw. I know you’re going to love it,” he shared.
Charlamagne also praised the memoir in a statement:
“2 Chainz’s story is a story of perseverance. A story of reinvention. This book will remind you that when GOD tells you to do something, it must be done, even if you have to reinvent yourself a few times to do it.”
