Tory Lanez Seeks Protective Order in Megan Thee Stallion’s Defamation Case

Tory Lanez is pushing back against further questioning in Megan Thee Stallion’s defamation lawsuit against blogger Milagro Cooper (aka Milagro Gramz).

On Sept. 24, Lanez filed a protective order in California’s Central District Court, arguing that additional deposition testimony would place “undue burden, prejudice to his ongoing criminal appeal, and constitutional risks.” His legal team pointed out that DJ Akademiks and Unite The People CEO Ceasar McDowell were not subjected to the same level of deposition scrutiny.

Lanez is asking the court to bar any further depositions altogether — or at minimum, limit them to written questions with protective measures, and delay them until his appeal is resolved.

Megan sued Cooper last year, accusing her of promoting doctored sexual content, cyberstalking, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and invasion of privacy. At the time, Megan released a statement saying:

“It’s time to hold bloggers accountable for years of harassment, cyberbullying, and the publication of misinformation about my personal and professional life. I’ve endured countless attacks on my character based on false narratives from social media bloggers misrepresenting themselves as journalists. It’s unacceptable behavior, and these individuals need to understand there will be repercussions for recklessly posting lies and defamatory falsehoods.”

The case has already seen heated moments. In June, a judge issued a gag order preventing both Cooper and Megan from making public statements about one another during litigation. By July, Megan’s lawyers accused Cooper of ignoring discovery deadlines and sought access to her social media, texts, and deleted files.

Things escalated further in August, when McDowell — during his own deposition — allegedly rolled and smoked what appeared to be a marijuana joint on camera, demanded painkillers, threatened to urinate in the room, insulted Megan’s lawyer, and ultimately walked out mid-questioning, according to court filings.
