Nico Ballesteros, the director of the Kanye West documentary In Whose Name, has revealed that a new version of the film is on the way—and he claims it will “change everything.”
Taking to X, Ballesteros explained that some scenes had to be removed for the theatrical release, but they’ll be restored in the streaming cut. “THE TRUTH IS COMING,” he wrote. “THE CUT FOR STREAMING WILL CHANGE EVERYTHING. WE HAD TO TROJAN HORSE CULTURE WITH THE THEATRICAL RELEASE.”
He added, “TRUST THE PROCESS. I APPRECIATE THE PROCESS AND AM IN SERVICE TO IT.”
In Whose Name was filmed over six years by Nico Ballesteros, who landed the opportunity after reaching out to Kanye West directly on social media.
The documentary, built from thousands of hours of footage, captures pivotal moments from Ye’s recent years—including his visit to the Oval Office to meet Donald Trump and a tense backstage clash at SNL with comedian Michael Che.
One viral scene shows Ye in a heated exchange with Kris Jenner, the mother of his ex-wife Kim Kardashian, about his mental health.
“No one from the family has taken any responsibility for my hospital visit,” Ye shouted. “But if you were to go online, that’s 50 percent of what people say, at least. Am I lying?”
Jenner initially replied, “It doesn’t matter,” prompting Ye to fire back even louder:
“It do matter! It does matter! It does matter!”
After Kris pointed out that she hadn’t finished speaking, she clarified her stance. “It matters to us and you. It doesn’t matter what the internet says. It matters what we think, Ye.”
Ye pressed her further, asking, “So what do you think, did you have an effect on my mental health?”
“Yes, yes, yes. I’m saying yes, and I love you,” Kris replied, her voice breaking with emotion. “I love you. I don’t want you to be not perfect. I love you and I want my daughter to love you the way you want her to love you.”
