Josh Hartnett Hospitalized With ‘Minor Injuries’ After Crash Involving Police Vehicle

Josh Hartnett was taken to the hospital after being involved in a car accident with a police vehicle in Canada last week.

According to CBC, the actor was riding as a passenger in an SUV on Thursday (Sept. 25) when it collided with a Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) patrol car.

An RNC press release stated that Hartnett and the SUV’s driver were transported to the hospital “with what is believed to be minor injuries,” while an officer from the patrol car was also taken in “as a precaution.”

Hartnett is currently on Newfoundland’s island filming an untitled Netflix series alongside Mackenzie Davis and Charlie Heaton. The show follows “a hard-bitten fisherman [who] discovers that his hometown is being terrorized by a mysterious creature,” according to Netflix.

The Trap star, who left Hollywood nearly two decades ago and stays off social media, hasn’t posted anything about the crash or its aftermath.

In a 2024 interview with The Guardian, Hartnett reflected on the intense public scrutiny he faced during his early-2000s rise. “People’s attention to me at the time was borderline unhealthy,” he said. “There were incidents. People showed up at my house. People that were stalking me. At one point, a guy showed up at one of my premieres with a gun, claiming to be my father. He ended up in prison.

“There were lots of things. It was a weird time. And I wasn’t going to be grist for the mill. I just didn’t want my life to be swallowed up by my work… You saw what happened to some people back then. They got obliterated by it. I didn’t want that for myself.”
