A Chinese influencer tragically lost his life on Saturday after his ultralight aircraft crashed during a livestream.
Video from the stream captured Tang Feiji taking off and soaring briefly before losing control of the single-seat plane. Upon impact, the aircraft erupted in flames, according to the state-run Chinese News Service via Dexerto.
Feiji, 55, was declared dead at the scene.
Cover News reported that hundreds of viewers were tuned into the livestream when the crash occurred.
Feiji had built a following of about 100,000 fans on Douyin, China’s version of TikTok. In earlier videos, he often spoke about his ultralight aircraft, sharing that he purchased it for 350,000 Chinese Yuan (roughly $49,000). He explained that the plane weighed just over 250 pounds, could reach speeds of more than 60 MPH, and climb to nearly 2,000 feet in the air.
Feiji even boasted that it only took him six hours to learn how to operate the aircraft.
