Cause of Death Confirmed for Tina Turner’s Son, Ike Turner Jr., 67

Tina Turner, the late music icon who passed away in 2023 at 83, was a mother of four sons — two of whom she adopted with her former husband, Ike Turner.

Sadly, one of those adopted sons, Ike Turner Jr., has passed away, leaving only one of Tina’s children still alive.

According to TMZ, Ike Jr. died at 67 from kidney failure at a hospital in Los Angeles. Tina’s niece, Jacqueline Bullock, confirmed his passing to the outlet, sharing that he died on October 5 after years of battling serious heart problems and complications from a stroke he suffered in September.

Ike Turner Sr. also passed away in 2007. As TMZ noted, Ike Jr. briefly worked as a sound engineer for Tina after she separated from Ike Sr.

According to Biography.com, Ike Jr. was one of Ike Sr.’s two sons adopted by Tina, though the two later lost contact. He was the biological son of Ike Sr. and Lorraine Taylor. The outlet also reported that Ike Jr. played in a tribute band and earned a Grammy Award as a producer for his father’s 2006 album Risin’ With the Blues.

Tina Turner also had two other sons, Craig and Ronnie Turner, both of whom passed away while she was still alive, Biography.com reported.

Ronnie, Tina’s only biological son with Ike Sr., died in 2022 from colon cancer. At the time, she mourned him on Instagram, writing, “Ronnie, you left the world far too early. In sorrow I close my eyes and think of you, my beloved son.”

Craig, Tina’s firstborn with musician Raymond Hill, was born when she was 18. He tragically died by suicide in 2018 at the age of 59.

Michael Turner, Ike Sr.’s other son who was also adopted by Tina, remains the only surviving child.
