Posta Boy has reportedly died at 43.
The rapper rose to fame with tracks like “Jurassic Harlem,” which cleverly sampled John Williams’ iconic Jurassic Park theme. He also made history as the first-ever winner of BET’s 106 & Park Freestyle Friday, holding the champion title for seven consecutive weeks before being inducted into the show’s Hall of Fame.
Following news of his passing, several artists took to social media to honor the late battle rapper. Mickey Factz was among the first to pay tribute, sharing a heartfelt message about Posta Boy on Instagram.
“Condolences to @mr10uknwtherest family,” he wrote.
Skyzoo also shouted out Posta Boy with a message in honor of his life.
In an interview with AllHipHop, Posta Boy opened up about his battle with cancer, which began after he noticed swelling in his testicle. He underwent emergency surgery to remove one of them, followed by five months of chemotherapy to reduce a cancerous mass that had spread to his kidneys.
When it was finally time for surgery, doctors discovered the mass had wrapped around his liver and other vital organs, turning the procedure into a grueling 12-hour operation. Posta Boy shared that he nearly lost his life midway through the surgery.
At this time, the official cause of his death remains unknown.
