Nearly three months after 15-year-old Celeste Rivas was found inside the trunk of a Tesla registered to singer D4vd, investigators still can’t pinpoint her cause of death.
TMZ reports that the L.A. County Medical Examiner received Rivas’ body in extremely disturbing condition. The teen had been decapitated and her limbs removed, with only her torso left intact. The severity of the damage made it hard for authorities to even determine the body’s sex at first.
Rivas’ remains were also said to be “partially frozen” and were thawing when officials recovered her from the vehicle.
Because of the state of the body, the medical examiner is struggling to determine how Rivas died, though the case is being treated as an “apparent homicide.” Even if the cause of death remains undetermined, investigators can still move forward with an arrest.
D4vd has reportedly refused to cooperate since being named a suspect in the case. He has yet to sit down with police, and investigators are said to be focusing on a potential second suspect as well.
Attorney Mark Geragos claimed on the 2 Angry Men podcast that digital evidence shows another person was involved “before, during and after” Rivas’ death. Co-host Harvey Levin backed that up, pointing to a late-night trip D4vd allegedly made to a remote spot in Santa Barbara County last spring — a trip authorities believe he took with the second suspect, with Rivas’ body already in the car.
