Three men have been charged with murder in the deadly shooting of singer DELAROSA in Los Angeles over the weekend.
According to a statement from Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman, 22-year-old Maria De La Rosa — professionally known as DELAROSA — was sitting in a parked car with two others shortly before 1:25 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, when suspects Francisco Otilio Gaytan, Benny LiconGomez, and Eduardo Lopez approached the vehicle.
Hochman said the trio allegedly carried out an “ambush-style attack,” demanding money from the group before opening fire. DELAROSA was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead, per an LAPD press release. The two other victims were critically injured.
Gaytan, 27, was arrested the same day, while 27-year-old LiconGomez was taken into custody the following day. An arrest warrant has been issued for 21-year-old Lopez. All three men face one felony count of murder and two felony counts of attempted second-degree robbery.
“This was a ruthless and targeted attack that stole the life of a young woman and artist and inflicted profound lifelong trauma on her family and the two survivors,” Hochman said. “My Office will pursue this case aggressively to ensure those responsible are held fully accountable for this senseless and deadly violence.”
If convicted, Gaytan, LiconGomez, and Lopez could face life in prison without the possibility of parole.
