The Game Sends Love to ‘Brother’ Kanye West, Brushes Off Top 5 Dispute: ‘He Crashed Out’

The Game opened up about where things stand between him and Kanye West, saying he still views the often controversial artist as family.

In a new sit-down with Big Boy, Game shared that he’s “been a brother to Ye for a long time,” even remembering the first time they crossed paths outside a Nelly album release party in the early 2000s.

“Me and Ye freestyled against each other,” he said (around the 47:55 mark in the video below). “I definitely lost. The girls was laughing. They was laughing with him, what he was saying.”

When Big Boy brought up some of Kanye West’s more controversial moments and asked how Game handles them, the Compton rapper said he’ll always stand by his brother. He added that even when they had their own clash, he didn’t let it break their bond.

“That’s my dog, man, til he crashed out on me and then I crashed back. … Head-on collision. But we good. We talked about it the very next day. We solid, man. But that’s how it be with brothers, man. As long as you can own up to what you did and have a grown man conversation about it and all that.”

The crash-out Game referenced involved Canadian rapper Top5, who Kanye was reportedly irritated with for repeatedly mentioning him online. West asked Game to step in, and the Documentary rapper took it seriously—reaching out to Top5 and telling him, “I need this to stop.”

Top5 agreed, followed Game on social media, and Game followed him back “as an olive branch.”

That, according to Game, set Kanye off. “Ye said, ‘Oh, gang following the opps,'” Game recalled. “I said, ‘Yeah, my boy, it’s one of them kick, slap the meds off the table day or something.'”

“He crashed out,” Game said. “Ye is my brother, man. And so he knows that, to be his best self, he just got to make sure that he pop his meds. He’s diagnosed with bipolar disorder.”
