Speaking at the People and InStyle Drive-By F1 Party in Las Vegas, Haddish finally cleared up the mystery: the “marriage” everyone has been buzzing about is actually a commitment she made to herself.
The reveal threw plenty of fans off, but for Haddish, it marks a fresh chapter rather than a shocker.
“Since I married myself, my dating life has been amazing,” she told People. She said the shift completely changed how she approaches relationships. “It’s been a lot easier because I have boundaries now. We have limits. And these men have to fall in line with what our requirements are.”
Her self-wedding is captured in episode five of her Peacock docuseries Tiffany Haddish Goes Off, where she genuinely walks down the aisle and exchanges vows centered on her own growth, well-being, and accountability. The ceremony wasn’t about stepping away from dating—it was about setting the bar higher.
Haddish also made it clear what she expects from anyone who wants a spot in her life. One non-negotiable? Financial discipline. “They gotta have a good credit score,” she said. “That’s your grown-up report card.” She added she doesn’t need incomes to match—just consistency and responsibility.
The idea wasn’t random, either. As shown in the series, Haddish first thought about marrying herself back in 2018 during a rocky relationship. “I’ll be my husband. I could take care of me better than you could,” she remembered thinking. Over time, that thought transformed into an intentional commitment.
While she’s still open to love, Haddish is fully honoring the promise she made to herself. Even her holiday plans reflect the shift—this Thanksgiving, instead of cooking for everyone else, she’s taking a solo escape to the Bahamas. In her words: “I’m married, so we are going out on a little trip. A little married trip. A solo married trip.”
