Bow Wow opened up about what it really takes to date someone in his position.
The rapper and actor — who shares children with exes Joie Chavis and Olivia Sky — explained on the latest episode of Million Dollaz Worth of Game that women he dates often see him constantly surrounded by groupies.
Around the 51-minute mark, Bow Wow said being mentored by So So Def founder Jermaine Dupri essentially “cursed” him.
“’Cause in situations where I like this girl and I’m putting my best foot forward and I’m really fucking with her and I’m trying to do the right thing, I’ve learned me being me, even when I’m doing the right thing, doing the wrong thing,” he said.
He shared an example: after simply asking a female bartender for a cranberry juice in the club, his partner accused him of “talking to bitches.”
“I might as well fuck the bartender then, the way you getting at me,” he joked.
The “Take Ya Home” rapper went on to say he’s brought girlfriends with him on tour and even to strip clubs, but those situations often turned into a “nightmare.”
He told a story about walking into one of his birthday parties — “my 18th birthday party or 19th, one of them” — hand-in-hand with a “famous girl” he was dating at the time. As they entered, he said a woman slipped her phone number into his free hand.
Bow Wow didn’t reveal who the girlfriend was, though he was in his late teens when he dated his “Like You” collaborator Ciara. He then broke down what comes with dating a man of his status, comparing the constant presence of groupies to “the wild wild west.”
“They don’t give a fuck about you. They don’t care,” he said. “They’re going to keep coming. They’re going to keep trying to holler. They’re going to keep throwing it. They’re going to keep sliding in my DMs. You have to be mentally tough for this shit. I don’t need you to break down. I got your back. But I don’t need you to get caught up in this shit.”
Bow Wow added that when he’s on tour, there are typically “50, 60 girls backstage,” whether he’s in a major city or “humbuck fuck, Alabama.”
Earlier this year, he told Club Shay Shay that he lost his virginity at fifteen, but didn’t “crack the code” of casual dating until he was eighteen.
