While celebrating the birth of her daughter, Rashida Nicole used the moment to call out her estranged husband, LiAngelo Ball, in a pointed Instagram post.
On Tuesday (Dec. 2), the influencer announced the arrival of her second child, Lilo Legacy Ball, and addressed the “overwhelming” speculation surrounding her relationship status. Nicole confirmed she and the Tweaker rapper are divorcing, adding that she specifically asked him not to be present for their daughter’s birth.
“That decision came after months of emotional pain, hurtful words and complete absence during the most vulnerable season of my life,” Nicole wrote.
She went on to claim she’d handled “everything alone” over the “last five months.” “Moments that should have been shared were lost because [Ball] chose not to show up,” she added. Nicole also alleged that shortly before their daughter was born, Ball suddenly asked her to change the baby’s name because it was “too close” to that of his alleged girlfriend — “the same woman I learned he had been lying about while still living together,” she claimed.
Nicole went on to say her message wasn’t written to gain “sympathy,” adding that she’s “taken accountability privately” by apologizing to Nikki Mudarris — the mother of Ball’s oldest children. Nicole had previously accused Mudarris of harassing her.
“I am grateful that we were able to talk, get clarity and create space for healing and a positive future for our kids,” Nicole wrote.
She then explained that she’s done protecting Ball, accusing him of “disrespect” and pushing “a one-sided narrative to avoid accountability.” “I haven’t shared the worst of what I experienced out of respect for him as a father — a respect I never received in return,” she added.
In July, news broke that the rapper and professional basketball player had filed for divorce from Nicole, just months after they tied the knot in March. That same month, Mudarris claimed Ball abandoned their family shortly after the birth of their second child.
