Former Disney actor Matt Prokop has been taken into custody on several charges, including a second-degree felony for alleged possession of child pornography.
The 35-year-old, best known for his role in High School Musical 3: Senior Year, was arrested on December 24 in Victoria County, Texas. Records show he was booked into the Victoria County jail on multiple counts: four misdemeanors — evading arrest or detention, violating a bond or protective order, and two counts of resisting arrest, search, or transportation — along with a felony charge related to possession of child pornography.
According to authorities, the arrest is connected to an alleged violation of bond conditions from a prior 2024 arrest. In May of that year, Prokop was accused of assault after allegedly pushing his girlfriend and slamming her head into an object. Police also claimed that during his arrest, he tried to pull away and run, which led to additional charges including aggravated assault and resisting arrest.
Prokop’s legal issues follow years after his highly publicized relationship with actor Sarah Hyland, who previously accused him of both verbal and physical abuse. In 2014, Hyland alleged that Prokop slammed her into a vehicle and choked her during an argument. She also claimed that after their breakup later that summer, he threatened to kill her dog and burn down her house.
Speaking to Variety in a 2024 interview, Hyland reflected on the lasting effects of the relationship. “I don’t know if that part [of] any woman will ever be fully healed from that,” she said. “It’s something that kind of scars her soul a little bit. It’s more so putting love towards that scar instead of hating it and ignoring it.”
