Hailey Bieber Fires Off Cease-and-Desist to TikToker Over Claims About Her Marriage

Hailey Bieber has reportedly sent a cease-and-desist letter to TikToker Julie Theis, accusing her of spreading what she calls “outrageous false, fabricated, and defamatory statements” about her marriage to Justin Bieber.

According to a letter dated Jan. 13 and obtained by TMZ, Hailey and Justin Bieber’s attorney, Evan Spiegel, alleges that Theis has “manufactured a false defamatory narrative” about the Rhode founder and her relationship through videos shared on TikTok and Instagram.

“Your conduct is wrongful, highly damaging, actionable, and exposes you to substantial liability,” the letter states. “We demand that you immediately cease and desist from this wrongful and tortious conduct, and remove the Videos.”

The letter points to a specific video in which Theis discusses relationships she claims only work when the woman is a “tolerant codependent,” someone who “tolerates mediocrity, abuse, doing the majority of domestic and emotional labor.” Theis then adds that there is “no better example” than Hailey and Justin Bieber.

Replying to @trippiiaus I have more to say on my theory of the tolerant codependent woman #decenteringmen #psychology

“In the Videos, you claim that long-term romantic relationships ‘only work’ because women put up with ‘abuse,’ among other alleged behavior, and you specifically name Hailey Bieber and Justin Bieber as ‘the best example’ of this supposed abusive dynamic,” the letter states. “Pushing that baseless narrative further, you invent and falsely label Mr. Bieber as an ‘addict,’ arguing that ‘an addictive partner is always an abusive partner.’”

Theis addressed the cease-and-desist letter on TikTok earlier today.

Just because you didn’t like how my opinion made you feel does not make it illegal. No one’s authority/power/wealth/status will dictate what I think #haileybieber #justinbieber

In a statement to TMZ, Theis pushed back, saying she’s worried that Hailey and Justin Bieber are attempting to shut down her right to free speech. “It’s extremely elitist to try to silence opinions just because you disagree,” she said. “Disagreement is not defamation.”
