IShowSpeed’s Sahara Sandals Confusion Sparks Yet Another Viral Moment From His Africa Tour

IShowSpeed’s Africa livestream tour has turned into a back-to-back highlight factory, and a recent stop delivered yet another laugh-out-loud moment that had locals in stitches.

While streaming from a small town in the Sahara Desert in Algeria, Speed stopped by a local vendor to buy a pair of sandals. Things took a hilarious turn when he completely misunderstood the price. The seller quoted 2,200 Algerian dinars — roughly $17 — but Speed didn’t hear it as money at all.

Instead, he somehow took it to mean 2,200 plates of dinner for one pair of sandals, instantly confusing the shopkeeper and everyone nearby. As Speed tried to wrap his head around what he thought he was being told, the awkward pause quickly turned into uncontrollable laughter from everyone around.

“How much he want for them,” Speed asked before the vendor told him 2,200 Algerian dinars. “Dinners? Dinners? Like a food dinner?”

The Algeria mix-up is just the latest viral clip from Speed’s Africa run, which has been packed with moments showing him fully leaning into the experience. Earlier this week, the streamer was live in Kenya’s Maasai Mara region, where he took part in a traditional Maasai ritual that involved drinking cow’s blood mixed with milk.

Before giving it a try, Speed gave viewers a heads-up, telling anyone uncomfortable with blood to tune out. During the stream, a guide clarified that the cow wasn’t harmed or killed, explaining that the blood was carefully taken from a live cow, collected, and then blended with milk. He added that blood, meat, and milk are core staples in Maasai culture and are rich in protein.

As expected, Speed couldn’t help but joke around before his first sip, asking what it would taste like and jokingly comparing it to cereal. After trying it, he described the drink as “salty,” then reacted with a mix of shock and excitement.

That’s when Speed fully embraced the moment, repeatedly telling his viewers he was “really Maasai” after drinking it.
