Charlamagne Tha God is side-eyeing the quality of ASAP Rocky’s music, saying he only seems to hear about Rocky’s new drops when Drake is involved.
While speaking on a recent episode of The Breakfast Club, the crew discussed Rocky’s upcoming album, Don’t Be Dumb, and zeroed in on the track “Stole Ya Flow,” which many listeners believe is aimed at his former collaborator, Drake.
After a snippet of the song was played, Charlamagne admitted he wasn’t aware the record was being interpreted as a diss toward Drizzy. Breakfast Club co-host Lauren Lorsa then broke it down, explaining, “Well, he’s talking about a rapper with a BBL, he’s talking about stealing a flow, and stealing somebody’s girl.”
“Drake had a BBL?!” Charlamagne responded, to which his co-hosts replied that it was an apparent reference to accusations amid the Kendrick Lamar beef that Drake had gotten some cosmetic work done.
“Every time I hear something about ASAP Rocky’s music, it’s him dissing Drake,” C Tha God added. “Like, does anybody go, ‘Yo, ASAP’s music is just good’? I don’t never hear that anymore. I don’t ever hear, like, ‘Yo, Rocky just put a hot record.’ All I hear is, ‘Yo, Rocky dissed Drake.’ And then somebody will play and you’ll listen and be like, ‘Okay?'”
On the track, Rocky appears to reference Drake’s apparent bitterness over the end of his relationship with Rihanna, with whom Rocky shares three children.
“First you stole my flow; so I stole yo’ bitch,” he raps on the song. “N****s getting BBLs, lucky we don’t body shame / Throwing dirt on Rocky name, turn around and copy game.”
During a recent appearance on Jon Caramanica and Joe Coscarelli’s podcast, Popcast, Rocky appeared to confirm the intended target of the track.
“I think we all know,” Rocky said to the hosts when they suggested Drizzy was the target. “I just started seeing people who started out as friends and then became foes. It seemed like they were unhappy for you and, you know, started sending shots. And I think that is what led to any of our misunderstandings, or whatever the case is.”
In the past, specifically on his 2023 album For All the Dogs, Drake appeared to take subliminal shots at Rihanna. “I’m anti, I’m anti / Yeah, and the sex was average with you / Yeah, I’m anti ’cause I had it with you / Okay, I’m auntie like your daddy’s sister / Auntie like a family picture / And I had way badder bitches than you, TBH,” he raps. “Yeah, that man, he still with you, he can’t leave you / Y’all go on vacation, I bet it’s Antigua.”
