Doechii is the latest artist to cheer on Kai Cenat as he leans into reading, and she’s pointing him toward one of America’s most influential authors to help sharpen his skills.
Taking to X, the rapper shared a sincere recommendation while fans continue to applaud the streamer’s growing interest in books.
“Try some Toni Morrison books frien,” Doechii wrote. “That’s expanded my vocabulary, my descriptiveness and just softened my heart a bit. She pulls out words you’ve never heard of and uses them in ways you couldn’t imagine @KaiCenat.”

While plenty of fans welcomed Doechii’s advice, others felt Toni Morrison might not be the easiest entry point.
One user pushed back, writing, “This is horrible advice. it’s so crazy to me how much ppl don’t comprehend how much of a learned skill reading is. u don’t just pickup toni morrison, either. this will only lead to discouragement because of density & both of their tendency to use syntactically complex sentences.”
Doechii wasn’t having it. In a now-deleted response, she fired back: “Oh brother… reading police? Toni Morrison was available in middle school libraries. Her books arent just amazing stories but great writing and definitely can improve vocabulary if you’re willing to learn new words. You in fact can just pick up Toni Morrison. And should!”
The suggestion comes as Kai Cenat’s audience watches him branch out beyond his usual gaming and entertainment content. After a long stretch of limited public activity following his record-breaking Mafiathon 3 streaming marathon in September 2025, Kai resurfaced this month and revealed he’s been spending his time differently — including quietly uploading videos to a hidden YouTube channel.
One of the biggest surprises has been Kai’s commitment to reading, sparked by a personal insecurity he openly admitted: struggling to express himself clearly under pressure.
“To be honest, I wanted to articulate myself better,” Cenat said. “I noticed that when I got into arguments, and I had to get a point across, people were not taking me seriously at all. I would have anxiety build up and I would stutter my words, and not know what happened.”
A clip making the rounds on X shows Kai setting a 20-minute timer and reading out loud, pausing occasionally to look up unfamiliar words and even checking their pronunciation before continuing.
