Ice-T recently shared some insight into how he and his wife, Coco, have managed to stay solid for 25 years.
The rapper and actor appeared on the Monday (January 19) episode of the Prince St. Pizza podcast and, around the 13-minute mark, opened up about what’s kept his marriage to Coco Austin strong over the decades. The couple shares a 10-year-old daughter, Chanel Nicole, and Ice-T is also a father to an adult son and daughter.
“I think getting married is like casting for a movie, but you gotta find somebody who’s ready for all the scenes,” Ice-T told hosts Nick Turturro and Godfrey. “The fun scenes, the wild scenes, the rough scenes, the tough scenes. That’s what marriage really is.”
“There are going to be times when she needs you,” he continued. “And there will be times when you need her. You want to marry someone who can really deal with you. We’re all flawed.”
The Law & Order: SVU star added that Austin is able to handle his frequent use of explicit language and understands that it’s never “directed at her.”
“She understood that, and Coco’s wild — she’s a party girl, she’s an extrovert, and I love that,” he said. “It doesn’t bother me at all. I’m not intimidated by it.”
Ice-T also recalled first meeting his wife on a music video set in Los Angeles, explaining what initially caught his attention about her striking appearance. “The first thing I noticed was her teeth,” he said. “Then I saw her boobs. So I was like, OK, she’s a white girl, big boobs, cool. Then she turned around and I saw she had a big ass. I was like, a fuckin’ unicorn. I’m thinking, what the fuck just happened? So, in the words of Iceberg Slim, I struggled to remain calm.”
Elsewhere this week, Ice-T also clapped back at a critic on X, formerly Twitter, who suggested he couldn’t speak on racial injustice because he’s married to a white woman. “Wow…. I have no words for this bitch… smh,” he responded.
