50 Cent is stepping into podcasting with a new project centered on DMX, with Jadakiss tapped as the host.
According to Deadline, Fif is teaming up with Narratively for a podcast titled Look Thru My Eyes: Becoming DMX, which will also be produced in collaboration with iHeartPodcasts.
Jadakiss will lead the series, which will kick off by focusing on DMX’s life and journey. Future seasons are expected to expand and spotlight the origin stories of other artists.
“DMX’s story is bigger than the music — it’s about survival, faith, pain, and purpose,” Fif said, per Deadline. “Look Thru My Eyes: Becoming DMX gives people a chance to understand where X came from, before the fame, through the voices of the people who were really there. This is the story that shaped the legend.”
Executive producers Bruce Miller and Justin Baez, both from Yonkers — DMX’s hometown — also shared their thoughts on the project.
“DMX’s story is inseparable from Yonkers, and his legacy is the lifeblood of hip hop,” Miller said.
The podcast announcement follows closely behind the success of Fif’s Netflix documentary Sean Combs: The Reckoning. In its first six days, the documentary pulled in 21.8 million views, just shy of the final season of Stranger Things, which recorded 23.6 million in the same timeframe.
Marking the achievement, Fif posted on Instagram joking about Netflix spending hundreds of millions of dollars on Stranger Things only for it to barely outperform Sean Combs: The Reckoning.
