DaBaby has brushed off reports tying him to politics, calling anything linking his name to it “fake news,” and seemingly denying claims that he’ll be performing at a MAGA-themed Valentine’s Day event.
Conservative YouTuber CJ Pearson and a group of young President Trump supporters known as the Cruel Kids Table recently promoted an event titled MAGA is in the Air, scheduled for February 13, with DaBaby listed as a special guest.
The Charlotte rapper responded on X on Saturday (January 24), appearing to distance himself from the announcement — though he stopped short of outright saying he wouldn’t attend or perform at the event.
“Anything mentioning my name & politics right now is fake news,” he wrote. “Don’t take the bait!”
DaBaby also used the post to point fans toward his new song, “Pop Dat Thang,” as well as his upcoming album #BeMoreGrateful, which is slated for release on January 30.
In other recent DaBaby-related news, the rapper went viral earlier this month after appearing ready to fight a fan who heckled him at an NBA game.
A fan filmed himself singing DaBaby’s hit “Suge” to get his attention during a Charlotte Hornets game, before adding, “your shirt is little.” The comment set DaBaby off, as he asked cheerleaders to lift him toward the stands so he could confront the heckler.
The situation cooled down after the fan apologized, and things ultimately ended without incident.
Still on the topic of DaBaby’s Hornets loyalty, the rapper showed his dedication to the team back in December when he made a fan remove a Chicago Bulls jersey before taking a photo with him.
After two fans asked for a picture, DaBaby insisted the Bulls jersey come off first. The fan quickly complied, earning the rapper’s approval before the photo was taken.
