Sabrina Carpenter Is Set to Appear on The Muppet Show—Watch the First Trailer

The Muppets are officially back in action, and they’re bringing a pop star along for the ride.

A newly released trailer reveals that Sabrina Carpenter will appear in an upcoming The Muppet Show special event, which is set to premiere on February 4 on Disney+ and ABC, according to ABC7 Chicago.

Instead of hinting at a full reboot, the special focuses on a one-night-only return to the original Muppet Theatre, with Kermit the Frog once again trying — and struggling — to keep everything running smoothly.

The trailer sticks to the classic Muppet vibe, packed with musical performances, behind-the-scenes chaos, and celebrity guests getting swept up in the madness. Carpenter is featured as one of the night’s stars, appearing alongside Kermit as preparations begin to unravel.

In one moment from the preview, Kermit admits the show is still coming together, telling Carpenter, “We’re still working out a few kinks.” She quickly shoots back, “That’s all right, I love a kink.”

The special also includes Maya Rudolph, marking her first-ever appearance in the Muppet universe, and Seth Rogen, who shows up both on screen and behind the scenes as an executive producer.

The trailer teases Rudolph striking up an unexpected connection with a Muppet in the audience, while Rogen appears throughout the production as things inevitably go off the rails.

The event was first announced in September 2025 as part of the franchise’s 50th anniversary celebration. Along with the guest appearances, the special features a newly recorded version of “The Muppet Show Theme,” produced by Bill Sherman, which will be released the same day the episode airs.

Veteran Muppet performers — including Bill Barretta, Dave Goelz, Eric Jacobson, Peter Linz, David Rudman, and Matt Vogel — return to voice many of the iconic characters. Goelz, who originally brought Gonzo and Dr. Bunsen Honeydew to life, is among those reprising roles he debuted decades ago.

Created by Jim Henson, The Muppet Show originally ran from 1976 to 1981 and became a worldwide hit thanks to its mix of sketch comedy, music, and celebrity guests.

All five seasons of the original series are currently streaming on Disney+.
