Taylor Swift Reveals ‘Opalite’ Video as Fans Speculate About Kayla

Taylor Swift is officially rolling out a full visual for “Opalite,” and fans are already reading between the lines.

According to Billboard, Swift revealed that the “Opalite” music video will premiere on Friday, February 6, via Spotify and Apple Music, with a broader YouTube release set for Sunday, February 8.

The rollout was revealed on Swift’s website, where a countdown clock hinted at the next chapter of The Life of a Showgirl era. She also confirmed a limited 7-inch vinyl single for “Opalite,” which will be available for just 48 hours through her online store.

“Opalite” marks the second music video from The Life of a Showgirl, following the lead single “The Fate of Ophelia.” While Swift has yet to share details about the video’s concept, longtime fans were quick to focus on the song’s backstory — and the person many believe inspired it.

Ever since The Life of a Showgirl arrived in October, listeners have speculated that “Opalite” references Swift’s fiancé Travis Kelce’s former relationship with Kayla Nicole.

Lyrics touching on emotional distance and public performance fueled online theories, especially after an old clip resurfaced showing Kelce asking Nicole to put her phone away during a date.

The speculation soon moved beyond lyric analysis. Weeks later, Nicole added fuel to the conversation on Halloween when she dressed as Toni Braxton from the “He Wasn’t Man Enough for Me” music video, recreating scenes and lip-syncing the song’s sharpest lyrics.

Fans quickly took the costume as a subtle message aimed at Swift, even though Nicole later said the look was inspired by a childhood memory involving a friend named Taylor.

Still, the timing kept the discussion going. Swifties flooded social media with theories, Nicole’s online history was reexamined, old tweets resurfaced, backlash followed, and she eventually deactivated her X account.

Then came an unexpected moment.

Earlier this month, Braxton brought Nicole onstage during a live performance of “He Wasn’t Man Enough for Me” while touring with New Edition and Boyz II Men.

Braxton later posted the moment on Instagram, writing, “Thank you @iamkaylanicole for everything! You were spectacular niece.”

Nicole replied simply: “Best. day. EVER .”
