Wendy Williams’ father, Thomas D. Williams, has passed away at the age of 94.
The family shared the news through his granddaughter, news anchor Alex C. Finnie, who announced his passing on Instagram on Sunday (Feb. 8). She posted a heartfelt family montage featuring photos and videos of the former talk show host with her father, alongside moments of the family during happier times.
“I’ll be loving you always,” Finnie wrote in the caption, with the post set to Stevie Wonder’s classic song “As.”
She went on to add, “It is with an extremely heavy heart that I share — after 94 years of extraordinary love, strength, brilliance, and wisdom, my grandfather Thomas D. Williams has passed.”
“I know he is in heaven with Nana, watching over our family and continuing to guide us as he always has,” the caption went on. “My grandfather was truly a man of great intellect — an author, educator, and keeper of historical facts. Papa poured into both family and community. I miss him tremendously. I’m a little lost for words right now, but I love you endlessly Papa. Give Nana a kiss for me.”
Williams has yet to publicly comment on her father’s passing as of publishing time. However, she was last seen attending his birthday celebration in February of last year, around the same period she was battling to be released from her guardianship. While the media personality still appears to remain under guardianship, she was cleared of frontotemporal dementia last November following a series of medical tests.
