At the kickoff of her Little Miss Drama tour in Palm Desert on Wednesday (Feb. 11), Cardi B showed love to her Mexican fans — and had some strong words for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
In fan-recorded clips circulating online, Cardi paused between songs to speak directly to the crowd.
“Mexicans in the building?” she asked, drawing loud cheers. “Bitch, if ICE come in here we gonna jump they asses. Bitch, I got some bear mace in the back. They ain’t taking my fans, bitch.”
Cardi B — who recently popped up during Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime Show — has been vocal about her criticism of ICE, especially as the agency ramps up operations in Minnesota and other areas. Ahead of her appearance at Michael Rubin’s Fanatics Super Bowl Party, she praised Bad Bunny for using his platform to speak out.
“I’m proud of everything that he’s been standing up for against ICE and everything,” she said, referencing his remarks at the Grammy Awards earlier this month, where he took home multiple trophies, including Album of the Year for Debí Tirar Más Fotos. During one of his acceptance speeches, he grabbed headlines after declaring, “ICE out.”
“It just feels like everything is aligned right now,” Cardi continued. “It just shows how Hispanics, Latinos, we standing. They standing. We all standing.”
The launch of her 35-date Little Miss Drama tour, which supports her album Am I the Drama?, comes as rumors swirl about a possible split between Cardi B and Stefon Diggs. A source recently told Entertainment Tonight that the couple — who welcomed a child last year — “recently” called it quits, though reconciliation hasn’t been ruled out.
“It’s possible they get back together and this could just be for right now,” the source said. “She is focused on her upcoming [Little Miss Drama Tour] and family while figuring out their next steps.”
Diggs recently suggested that proposing to Cardi was “on the agenda” during a press conference, adding with a laugh, “I gotta get mine first, though.”
Adding to the rough stretch, the New England Patriots fell to the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl.
